What’s The Deal With…?

Legendary Surf Spots

It’s a beautiful, wide stretch of golden sand, so post-surf chilling is mandatory. The beach is split by a rocky point—the main break is on one side, and a mellower beach break is on the other. It’s not totally remote; there are palapa restaurants, shops, and some development. The sun is fierce, so a good rashguard and zinc are key. At low tide, it can get a bit mushy, but when the tide fills in, oh man, it’s magic.

Dude, it’s a total learner’s paradise! This long, sandy-bottom point break peels gently for what feels like forever. The mellow rollers give you plenty of time to pop up and practice your stance without getting pounded. The bottom is soft sand, so wiping out is no biggie. Plus, the consistent swell and friendly vibe in the lineup make it the perfect spot to get your feet wet and log those first glorious rides. It’s a forgiving wave that builds confidence fast.

This is huge. Always pack out your trash—leave zero trace. Support the local businesses, eat at the family-run taco stands, and be cool to everyone. Water is precious down there, so keep those showers short. When driving on dirt roads, go slow to avoid dust and respect any private property signs. We’re guests in their backyard. Keeping the place clean and showing respect ensures this slice of paradise stays epic for the locals and surf pilgrims for years to come.

Legendary Surf Spots

You’ve got options, bro! You can camp right on the beach in a van or tent for that pure Baja experience. There are also some sweet vacation rentals and boutique hotels within walking distance of the sand. After your session, grab some killer fish tacos and a cold cerveza at one of the beachfront palapas while watching the sunset. The vibe is laid-back, toes-in-the-sand kind of living. It’s the perfect mix of rustic charm and essential comforts.

For the most consistent action, you wanna point your van south during the winter months. From like November through April, the North Pacific swells are pumping, delivering the most reliable waves. That’s when the point really comes alive. Summer can be fun too with southern hemi pulses, but it’s more hit-or-miss. Winter offers the best chance for those clean, lined-up walls that make for epic longboard sessions or learning to carve on your funboard.

It’s generally super chill and friendly, especially down near the inside section where the groms and beginners hang. Everyone’s out to have a good time. That said, as with any popular spot, it can get a bit crowded when it’s firing. Just remember your surf etiquette—don’t drop in, snake, or hog all the waves. A smile and a bit of patience go a long way. Respect the locals and the pecking order, and you’ll find it’s a pretty mellow crowd sharing the stoke.
